This page contains Pictures of some infill planes that I want to show people. The plane up top is a nice Spiers 13 1/2 inch panel plane that I picked up many years ago at an MWTCA show. You can see the dovetails where the sole joins the sides, and also the rivits that hold the rosewood infills into the body. The lever cap is the classic gunmetal version with "Spiers Ayre" stamped on it. The plane immediately below is a very old mitre plane that I got at the same show. As you can see from the photo, it has a gunmetal body dovetailed into a steel sole. The snecked iron is by Sorby, and the infill and wedge is of ebony. The style puts the plane's vintage at from 1790 to 1830 according to two different knowledgeable sources. This plane has a very tight mouth.
